How much does Wix take per sale?
Wix stands out from many ecommerce competitors by not charging transaction fees on your sales. This means Wix doesn't take a percentage cut of your revenue simply for using their platform. However, you will need to pay standard payment processing fees when customers make purchases.
Payment Processing Fees
When you use Wix Payments, the built-in payment processor, you'll pay processing fees that vary by location and payment method:
In the United States, the standard rate is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for credit and debit cards. This applies uniformly to Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
For European merchants, the rate is actually lower at 1.9% + €0.30 per transaction.
Canadian businesses pay 2.9% + CA$0.30 per transaction.
International payments from customers outside your country carry higher fees, ranging from 4.4% to 5.5% plus a fixed fee.
In-Person Sales
If you're selling in person using Wix's Point of Sale (POS) system, the fee structure is different: 2.6% with no per-transaction fixed fee in the US.
Other Considerations
There are a few additional costs to be aware of:
- Chargebacks incur a $15 fee if a customer disputes a transaction
- Manual card entry costs more at 4.3% + $0.30
- Alternative payment methods like Apple Pay use the same 2.9% + $0.30 rate
To accept payments online, you'll need one of Wix's ecommerce plans (Core, Business, or Business Elite), which start at $17 per month. The platform itself doesn't take any additional cut beyond the payment processing fees.
