Can you help remove a website that has copied my content?
Often, yes. If your original text, images, design assets or software have been copied without permission, we document the copying, identify the hosting provider and other relevant services, and submit notices under their copyright or abuse processes. Depending on the provider, this can lead to removal of the copied material or, where the site as a whole is infringing, suspension of the site.
What does “taking a site down” actually mean?
It can mean four different remedies, each decided by a different party. Content removal takes down specific pages or files (usually the host or platform decides). Website suspension takes the whole site offline (the hosting or infrastructure provider decides). Domain action suspends or transfers the domain (registrars, dispute panels such as the UDRP, or courts decide). Search delisting removes URLs from search results while the site stays online (the search engine decides). Part of our assessment is matching your case to the outcome that is realistic.
How quickly can an infringing website be taken down?
It depends on the provider, the strength of the evidence and the jurisdiction. Some providers act on a well-documented notice within days; others take longer, ask for more information or decline. We give you a realistic view after the case assessment rather than a fixed promise.
Can you identify who owns an anonymous website?
We start with lawful open-source investigation of the site's infrastructure, which sometimes identifies the operator or the companies serving them. Where an operator stays hidden behind privacy or proxy services, identifying them usually requires a formal legal process pursued through licensed counsel. Identification is not guaranteed.
Can hosting providers disclose account and billing information?
Generally only when legally required. Providers protect customer data and will not hand over account, billing or IP records in response to an ordinary complaint. Disclosure normally needs a court order, subpoena or equivalent legal process in the relevant jurisdiction, which licensed attorneys obtain where a case qualifies. An ordinary takedown notice asks a provider to act on content; it does not entitle anyone to the customer's private records.
What happens if a hosting provider refuses to remove a website?
We review the provider's response and the options that remain. These can include escalating within the provider, contacting upstream providers such as the CDN or data centre, pursuing the domain through the registrar or a dispute policy, requesting search-engine delisting, or referring the matter to licensed counsel to evaluate legal action.
Do I need a court order to remove an infringing website?
Not usually. Many removals happen through providers' own notice-and-takedown and abuse processes, without any court involvement. A court order may become necessary when providers decline to act, when the infringement is complex or disputed, or when you need records disclosed. Licensed counsel would assess whether that route is appropriate.
Can you handle websites hosted overseas?
We regularly assess cases involving providers and parties in other countries, and many providers operate notice processes that apply internationally. Available remedies vary by jurisdiction and by provider, and some locations offer limited routes. We will tell you where those limits apply to your case.
What evidence do I need to submit?
Start with the infringing URL, a short description of what was copied or misused, and links to your original work or registrations, such as earlier publication dates, trademark registrations or source files. Screenshots, archived pages and examples of confused customers are helpful. Please do not send passwords, payment card details or government ID numbers.
Can you guarantee a website will be taken down?
No. Removal decisions rest with hosting providers, registrars, platforms, search engines and, where proceedings are involved, courts. We cannot guarantee any takedown, court order, identification or disclosure, and we would be cautious of anyone who does. What we provide is a well-evidenced, coordinated case designed to give your claim the best available footing.
What does the service cost?
The initial case review is free. Every engagement is then quoted in writing according to the scope of your case and the package that fits it. Attorney fees, court costs and other third-party costs are separate unless your quote states otherwise.
