How can I switch from Wix Editor to Wix ADI?
Understanding the Switch Between Wix Editors
It's important to clarify that you can only switch from Wix ADI to Wix Editor, not the other way around. If you're currently using the Wix Editor and want to use ADI, switching back is not possible on the same website.
Switching from Wix ADI to Wix Editor
If you started your site with Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) and want more design control, you can make a permanent switch to the Wix Editor. Here's how:
- Access Your Site Editor - Open your Wix ADI site editor on a desktop or laptop (mobile editing is not supported for this process)
- Navigate to Site Menu - Click on the "Site" menu in the top bar of your editor
- Select Go To Editor - Find and click "Go To Editor" at the bottom of the dropdown menu
- Confirm the Switch - A pop-up confirmation box will appear; click "Switch to Editor" to complete the transition
Important Considerations
This switch is permanent and irreversible. Once you move from Wix ADI to the Wix Editor, you cannot switch back to ADI for that website. The Wix Editor provides significantly more design freedom, complete access to the Wix App Market, and advanced customization options compared to the more automated ADI approach.
As of May 2024, Wix has updated older ADI sites to the latest version of the Editor automatically, though Wix ADI remains available primarily for initial quick site creation.
Why Make the Switch?
Moving to the Wix Editor gives you:
- Full design control over every element of your website
- Access to all Wix apps in the App Market (ADI has restrictions)
- Advanced customization options for layouts and features
- More flexibility in adding custom code and third-party integrations
