How can I switch from Wix Editor to Wix ADI?
Understanding the Switch Between Wix Editors
It's important to clarify the direction of this change: you can move from Wix ADI to the Wix Editor, but not the other way around. If you're already building in the Wix Editor, you can't convert that site into an ADI site.
Switching from Wix ADI to the Wix Editor
If you started your site with Wix ADI (the automated, question-based design tool) and want more design control, you can make a permanent switch to the Wix Editor:
- Open your ADI site on a desktop or laptop (this process isn't supported on mobile).
- Click the Site menu in the top bar of the editor.
- Select Go To Editor near the bottom of the dropdown menu.
- Confirm the switch when the pop-up appears to complete the transition.
Important Considerations
This switch is permanent and irreversible. Once you move from ADI to the Wix Editor, you can't switch that website back to ADI. The Wix Editor provides significantly more design freedom, full access to the Wix App Market, and advanced customization options compared with the more automated ADI approach.
Wix continues to evolve its site-creation tools, and much of the automated, AI-assisted site building has shifted into Wix's newer AI website builder. If your site already uses the latest Editor, you may not see an ADI option at all.
Why Make the Switch?
Moving to the Wix Editor gives you:
- Full design control over every element of your website
- Access to all apps in the Wix App Market
- Advanced customization options for layouts and features
- More flexibility for custom code and third-party integrations
