About Wix

How do you delete a Wix website?

Deleting a Wix website is a straightforward process that can be completed in just a few steps. Here's everything you need to know about removing your site from the platform.

Steps to Delete Your Wix Site

To delete your Wix website, start by logging into your Wix account and navigating to the My Sites dashboard. Locate the site you want to remove, then click on the Site Actions menu (typically displayed as three dots). From the dropdown menu, select Move to Trash and confirm your action.

The site will now be moved to your trash folder. To permanently delete it, go to the trash section within My Sites, find your site, click More Actions, and choose Remove Site. Confirm this final deletion to permanently remove the site.

Important Considerations Before Deleting

Before you proceed with deletion, there are several important factors to keep in mind:

Cancel Active Subscriptions: Make sure to cancel any premium plans or subscriptions associated with your site to avoid ongoing charges. This should be done before moving the site to trash.

Backup Your Data: Deletion is irreversible. If there's any content, images, or data you might need later, make sure to back it up before proceeding with the deletion.

Trash Retention Period: After moving a site to trash, it remains there for 90 days before automatic permanent deletion. You can manually remove it earlier if needed.

Deleting Multiple Sites: If you need to delete several sites, Wix allows you to select multiple sites from the My Sites page and move them all to trash simultaneously.

Deleting Your Entire Wix Account

If you want to delete your entire Wix account rather than just a single site, the process involves removing all subscriptions, deleting all sites by moving them to trash, disconnecting any custom domains, and then closing your account through your account settings.
