How do I delete a Wix website from my account?

How to Delete Your Wix Website

Deleting a Wix website is a straightforward process, but it's important to understand the steps and precautions before proceeding. Here's everything you need to know about removing a site from your Wix account.

Step-by-Step Deletion Process

1. Access Your Dashboard

Log in to your Wix account and navigate to the My Sites dashboard. This is where all your websites are listed.

2. Select Your Site

Locate the website you want to delete from your list of sites. Click the "More Actions" icon (three dots) next to the site name.

3. Move to Trash

Select "Move to Trash" from the dropdown menu and confirm the action. This immediately unpublishes your site and moves it to the Trash folder, making it inaccessible to visitors.

4. Permanently Delete

To complete the deletion, go to the Trash folder in your My Sites dashboard. Find your site, click the "More Actions" icon again, and select "Remove Site". Confirm this action to permanently delete the website.

Important Considerations Before Deleting

Before you delete your Wix website, take these precautions:

  • Cancel premium subscriptions: Make sure all paid plans associated with the site are canceled
  • Remove connected domains: Disconnect any custom domains linked to the site
  • Export your content: Download any content, images, or data you want to keep
  • Backup important information: Once deleted, your site cannot be recovered

What Happens After Deletion

Sites moved to Trash are automatically deleted after 90 days if you don't take action. However, you can permanently remove them immediately from the Trash folder. Remember that this action is irreversible—once you permanently delete a site, all its content, pages, and settings are gone forever.

If you're unsure about deleting, consider unpublishing your site instead. This keeps your work saved while making the site invisible to the public.
