How do I delete a Wix website?

Deleting a Wix website is a straightforward process, but it's important to understand that once you permanently delete your site, it cannot be recovered. Here's everything you need to know about removing a website from your Wix account.

Steps to Delete Your Wix Website

To delete your Wix site, start by logging into your Wix account and navigating to the My Sites dashboard. Locate the website you want to remove and click on the Site Actions menu (represented by three dots) next to the site name.

From the dropdown menu, select Move to Trash and confirm your action. This doesn't permanently delete your site yet—it simply moves it to your trash folder where it can still be recovered if needed.

To permanently delete the site, go to your Trash folder in the dashboard. Find the trashed site, click on More Actions, and select Remove Site. You'll need to confirm this deletion, and remember that this action is irreversible.

Important Considerations Before Deleting

Before you delete your Wix website, there are a few important steps you should take:

Cancel Premium Plans: If your site has any active premium plans or subscriptions, make sure to cancel them first to avoid being charged in the future. You can manage your subscriptions through your account settings.

Remove Custom Domains: If you've connected a custom domain to your site, consider removing it from your account or transferring it elsewhere if you plan to use it with another platform.

Backup Your Content: Since deletion is permanent, download any content, images, or data you want to keep before removing your site.

Deleting Your Entire Wix Account

If you want to completely close your Wix account rather than just delete a single site, you must first delete all websites in your account, remove all domains, and cancel all premium subscriptions. Only after completing these steps can you proceed to permanently close your account.
