How do I delete a website on Wix?
How to Delete Your Wix Website
Deleting a Wix website is a straightforward process, but it's important to understand that once you permanently delete your site, the action cannot be undone. Here's everything you need to know about removing your Wix website.
Step-by-Step Deletion Process
First, log in to your Wix account and navigate to the My Sites dashboard. This is where all your websites are displayed.
Locate the site you want to delete and click on the More Actions button (represented by three dots) next to it. From the dropdown menu, select Move to Trash. This action will unpublish your site and move it to the trash folder.
At this point, your site is not yet permanently deleted. To complete the deletion, go to the Trash folder in your My Sites dashboard. Find the site you want to permanently remove, click the More Actions icon again, and select Remove Site.
Confirm the deletion when prompted. Remember, this step is irreversible.
Important Considerations Before Deleting
Before you proceed with deleting your website, take care of a few essential tasks:
Cancel any premium subscriptions associated with the site to avoid future charges. You can manage your subscriptions through your account settings.
If you have a custom domain connected to your site, consider removing or transferring it before deletion. This ensures you retain control of your domain name for future use.
Back up any important content from your site, such as images, text, or files, as you won't be able to recover them after permanent deletion.
Alternative: Unpublishing Your Site
If you're not ready to permanently delete your site but want to take it offline, consider unpublishing it instead. This keeps your site in your account but makes it inaccessible to visitors. You can always republish it later if needed.
