Does Wix charge transaction fees on online sales?

Understanding Wix Transaction and Payment Processing Fees

Wix does not charge separate transaction fees on sales made through its platform. This sets it apart from some other eCommerce platforms that take a percentage of your sales on top of payment processing costs.

What Wix Actually Charges

Instead of transaction fees, Wix charges payment processing fees when you use Wix Payments. These fees are deducted from each transaction and vary based on the payment method and location.

Wix Payments Processing Fees (US)

For online transactions in the United States:

  • Standard credit/debit cards: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
  • American Express: 3.7% + $0.30 per transaction
  • POS (in-person sales): 2.6% + $0 per transaction
  • Tap to Pay: 2.6% + $0.20 per transaction

International transactions or payments involving international cards may incur higher fees, ranging from 4.4% to 5.5% plus a fixed fee.

Important Points to Remember

No Hidden Transaction Fees: Wix does not take an additional percentage of your sales beyond the payment processing fees. The processing fees are automatically deducted from the transaction amount.

Premium Plan Required: To accept online payments through Wix Payments, you need to be on a premium plan, typically the Core plan ($29/month) or higher.

Refunds: When you issue refunds, the processing fees are still applied but no extra charges are added.

The Bottom Line

Wix's pricing structure is transparent and competitive. You only pay the payment processing fees—no additional transaction fees are taken from your sales. This makes it easier to calculate your actual costs and profit margins when running an online store.
